Job Title: Engineering Technician (Pilot Plant Field Operator)
Job Summary:
Assist in the construction and operation of chemical pilot plant processes. This position requires hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and vehicles, handling instrumentation, supporting complex chemical and petroleum processes, and ensuring operational readiness across various work sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in building and operating chemical pilot plant processes.
- Work with piping, tubing, AC/DC powered instruments, and related equipment.
- Operate complex chemical and petroleum processes at a small/pilot scale.
- Maintain equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Install and remove insulation as needed.
- Deliver equipment, tools, and materials between work sites.
- Assist with welding, cutting, wiring, and wire installations according to schematics.
- Manage chemical and equipment inventory.
- Document operations, maintain data logs and communicate across shifts.
- Perform cleaning, upkeep, and inventory control of tools and parts.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field .
- 0 years of experience acceptable with an associates degree in a related field.
- Experience working with mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems.
- Proficient with hand tools and power tools.
- Exposure to chemical processes, troubleshooting, and problem-solving is a plus.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must be able to work a rotating 24/7 schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Experience with demonstration or pilot-scale operations is highly .
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Must own and wear steel toe shoes on-site.
- Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking for long periods.
- Climbing stairs and ladders regularly.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and in various pilot plant environments.
- Must be able to walk between multiple work sites spread across a 1,500-acre property.
Work Schedule & Dress Code:
- Standard Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (subject to change based on project needs).
- Shift Flexibility: Must be available for rotating 24/7 shift schedules.
- Dress Code: Collared shirt and jeans required on-site.
