Job Brief:

The Field Health & Safety Advisor is an integral part of Control Tech’s operations responsible for embedding safety leadership into day-to-day project execution. Working directly with the Director of EH&S and Operations leadership, this role ensures that safety programs, training, and compliance are seamlessly integrated into operational priorities.

The Advisor supports operational efficiency and productivity while safeguarding people, equipment, and the environment. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of verifiable experience in construction safety, with expertise in oil & gas and renewable energy, and is skilled in delivering practical, results-focused training for SafeLand USA, mobile equipment, and OSHA awareness.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Director of EH&S and Operations leadership to align safety initiatives with project schedules, client requirements, and operational goals across all regions.
  • Provide on-site HSE leadership to operational teams, ensuring that safety practices are practical and clearly defined, and fully integrated into daily work plans.
  • Collaborate with the Projects team to develop, review, and implement Project-Specific Safety Plans (PSSPs) and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) that reflect actual field conditions.
  • Plan safety training programs.
    • Deliver & Document training sessions:
      • SafeLand USA (Trainer )
      • Mobile Equipment (MEWP, forklift, loader, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)
      • OSHA 10/30-Hour awareness
  • Conduct hazard assessments.
    1. Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
    2. Carry out field inspections in coordination with site supervisors.
    3. Track corrective actions through to completion.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions that prevent recurrence while maintaining safety as the highest priority.
  • Lead and participate in safety audits that measure both compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Control Tech’s paperless reporting system (training will be provided if unfamiliar) to maintain accurate, accessible safety and operational performance records.
  • Contribute to monthly safety meetings and provide directly applicable to the current work tasks safety communications to crews.
  • Other duties as required to support safe, efficient operations.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ field health & safety experience in construction; industrial or heavy civil .
  • Sector experience in oil & gas required; renewable energy experience an asset.
  • OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry.
  • OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry).
  • SafeLand USA (Trainer Authorization ; or willingness to obtain).
  • Mobile Equipment Trainer certification(s) — MEWP, forklift, loader, telehandler, skid steer, etc.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard recognition, and operational risk mitigation.
  • Experience with safety management systems and data reporting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time or approximately 10–12 days per month throughout CO, NM, TX, OK, ND, and WY.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Fall Protection Trainer
