Field Engineering Manager Responsibilities
Project Oversight and Management:
- Plan and Coordinate Projects: Manage engineering projects, such as those related to nuclear facility operations, environmental cleanup, or infrastructure development. This includes defining project scope, schedules, and budgets while ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Execute Technical Tasks: Oversee the application of engineering principles to design, construct, and maintain systems like site layouts, utilities, or waste processing facilities. Ensure projects align with approved scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
- Supervise Field Activities: Direct and monitor field operations, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently. This includes managing Field Engineers, contractors and support personnel to achieve project objectives.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
- Manage Multidisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, civil, and chemical Field Engineers, to drive project success. Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and clients to resolve technical issues.
- Direct Support Personnel: Oversee Field Engineers, providing guidance and ensuring alignment with project goals. Mentor staff to develop skills.
Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:
- Apply Advanced Engineering Practices: Utilize expertise in fields like mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering to resolve complex problems. Incorporate advanced tools, such as 3D modeling or computer-aided drafting (CADD), for design and analysis.
- Conduct Investigations and Analysis: Perform data analysis and implement solutions to enhance processes, such as improving manufacturing workflows or optimizing waste management systems.
Administrative and Documentation Duties:
- Prepare Technical Reports: Create reports, models, and documentation to support project planning, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication.
- Manage Resources: Oversee material procurement, vendor submittals, and construction administration, ensuring resources align with project needs.
- Work Planning and Control: Manage work control/work planning processes to ensure safe and efficient operations. Create step-by-step instructions for tasks, including scope, required tools, materials, permits, and personnel qualifications.
- Incorporate safety requirements, such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), radiological controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and document hazards (e.g., radiological, chemical, or physical) and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Civil Engineering or another, related engineering field
- 6+ years' experience as a Field Engineering Manager
Requirements:
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program.
