SolTerra's Field Engineer I will provide project management and oversight for civil construction projects in the Rocky Mountain Region. Responsibilities will include submittal tracking, construction inspection, materials testing, specification compliance, and documentation/reporting.
Applicants must possess a current drivers license, clean driving record, be able to work outdoors, and capable carrying up to 60 pounds. Applicants with a degree from an ABET accredited program is required, with experience in heavy earthwork and/or paving construction is a plus. A company vehicle and lodging will be provided while on work projects. Extended overnight travel is required and will include daily per diem. A degree of professionalism is expected as this position works directly with clients, engineers, and Federal representatives. This position is Full-Time Seasonal with potential for advancement and year round employment.
Job Responsibilities
- Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings, testing standards and technical specifications based on individual project requirements
- Correspond and schedule meetings with clients, staff, local agencies, etc. as needed to complete work as timely and as accurately as possible
- Track, report, and file all submittals necessary for specification compliance throughout the project
- PERFORM construction and materials inspections daily and distribute findings in an accurate and timely manner
- When appropriate/needed, perform materials testing and ensure project testing reports are complete, accurate, distributed and filed correctly
- Closely monitor and report on daily work being completed to ensure compliance with project specifications
- Participate in a healthy work environment that promotes accuracy and accountability through proactive communication with project managers and clients
- Adhere to company policies and procedures described in the Employee Handbook
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited program
- Valid drivers license
- EI/EIT License
Knowledge/ Technical Skills
- Ensures a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong technical written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively under deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Requirements
Education/Experience
- 2-4 years' related experience
- 1-2 years' experience in a supervisory role
- Experience with asphalt, concrete, and soils/aggregate testing
- Construction and/or field research experience
