Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of the Field Engineering team, this innovative and results-oriented individual is primarily responsible for diagnosing system issues and servicing Sonendo’s GentleWave® Endodontic Treatment System in the field. This role requires critical thinking and analysis to independently resolve customer issues.

  • The Field Engineer will rely on specialized training and technical knowledge to analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer issues based on each customer’s unique system needs.
  • Serve as a key liaison facilitating two-way communication between field personnel, third-party service providers, practicing Endodontists, and Sonendo’s internal Product Development and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Undergo specialized training and draw on prior experience and education in electronics, pneumatics, and high-pressure fluid systems to effectively resolve console issues in the field. Must adapt to evolving support models.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing preventive maintenance (PM), analyzing console errors, and resolving system issues within defined timeframes following in-house training.
  • Perform PMs and field updates within the assigned territory.
  • Respond promptly to unscheduled service calls and communicate action plans and timelines to customers.
  • Maintain compliance with Quality System procedures and company policies.
  • Support the development, delivery, and ongoing updates of training materials for field, in-house, and third-party personnel.
  • Consult with customers to resolve issues and provide technical guidance.
  • Conduct in-service care and maintenance training for customers as needed or as directed by management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Sales Representatives and assist with system installations when requested.
  • Identify and communicate areas for product improvement to management and internal teams.
  • Prepare and document service bulletins as required or requested by management.
  • Submit required documentation on the next designated administrative day, or by EOB Friday if the workweek includes visits across multiple states.
  • This position entails significant travel of up to 90%–95%, including flexibility for last-minute flights to accommodate customer requirements.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Associate degree required, or equivalent specialized technical training or certification. Must demonstrate aptitude in electro-mechanical and electronics troubleshooting with an understanding of related theories.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Capable of working independently and executing tasks with minimal supervision, within established guidelines and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards.
  • Must be able to safely move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and exchange accurate information in work settings.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Ability to travel by car, plane, etc.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel up to 90%–95%, including overnight travel locally, regionally, and nationally.

Compensation: We pay competitively. Base salary range is $90,000 - $110,000. Other paid compensation and benefits may be available.
