Field-Based Engineer

About the Role
Our client is looking for a Field-Based Engineer to carry out the installation, repair, and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment at customer sites. This is a mobile role that involves travel and hands-on technical work in a variety of environments.

\n

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

\n

    \n
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment
  • \n

  • Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
  • \n

  • Managing and maintaining vehicle stock
  • \n

  • Accurately completing reports and documentation for internal processing and customer records
  • \n

  • Delivering excellent customer service while representing the company on-site
  • \n

\n

As the face of the business, the engineer must uphold high standards of professionalism and work towards meeting service targets, including timely attendance and first-time fix rates.

\n

Requirements

\n

    \n
  • Full UK driving licence
  • \n

  • Proven experience in fault finding, diagnosis, and repair within plant, automotive, or industrial machinery
  • \n

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and CAD drawings
  • \n

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge
  • \n

  • Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations
  • \n

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • \n

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a proactive attitude
  • \n

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • \n

  • Flexible and adaptable with a strong problem-solving approach
  • \n

  • Basic computer literacy
  • \n

  • Friendly, customer-focused approach
  • \n

Desirable Criteria

\n

    \n
  • Awareness of LOLER and PUWER legislation
  • \n

  • NVQ qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • \n

  • Possession of a CSCS card\n
  • \n

  • Previous field service experience
  • \n

\n

This role includes opportunities for ongoing training and development to support continued technical and professional growth.

\n

The role is Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 weekends on call. Salary £40-£42k (OTE £50-£55k)
