We are looking for a Field Construction Project Engineer (CPE) to support complex engineering and construction projects within our Energy business unit at an active project site. This role will focus on day to day construction execution, project controls, and field coordination. The Field Construction Project Engineer will serve as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
 
We are looking for our Field Construction Project Engineer to be located in or around Concord, North Carolina, Medford, Oregon, or Elk River, Minnesota. The position will require being in the field.
 
 
We are seeking a Field Construction Project Engineer to support day-to-day construction activities on energy-related projects at an active jobsite. This role is heavily field-based and focuses on assisting with project coordination, documentation, and construction execution to help ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Field Support & Coordination

  • Assist with daily construction activities and field coordination
  • Support communication between project managers, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Help resolve basic field issues, conflicts, and construction questions

Project Documentation & Controls

  • Track and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting notes
  • Assist with document control to ensure teams are working from current drawings and specifications
  • Help maintain project logs and status updates

Schedule & Cost Support

  • Support schedule updates and weekly lookahead planning
  • Assist in tracking progress, manpower, and production
  • Help identify delays or potential impacts to schedule and cost

Subcontractor & Vendor Support

  • Assist in coordinating subcontractors and vendors on-site
  • Track material deliveries and support procurement follow-up
  • Help monitor subcontractor progress and basic compliance requirements

Quality & Safety

  • Perform field observations and report quality issues or deficiencies
  • Support punch list tracking and closeout activities
  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and site walks
  • Help ensure compliance with safety procedures and site standards

Project Closeout Support

  • Assist with turnover documentation, including O&M manuals, warranties, and as-builts
  • Support final inspections and project closeout activities

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of construction or field engineering experience (industrial, energy, or infrastructure )
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and field coordination
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work in an active field construction environment
  • Exposure to RFIs, submittals, or project documentation is a plus
  • OSHA certification or willingness to obtain

Work Environment

  • Active construction site environment
  • Daily field presence required
  • Fast-paced project execution with multiple contractors and disciplines
