Multiple Locations: Binghamton, NY, Lancaster, NY, Oneonta, NY (multiple hires needed)
Employment Type: Contract with potential for multi-year extension

We are seeking a Field Construction Coordinator to join a growing team in the state of New York (various cities). In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring construction excellence, collaborating with industry professionals, and driving high-quality outcomes across complex infrastructure initiatives.
Role Overview
The Field Construction Coordinator (FCC) supports the Project Manager and Construction Manager in coordinating and supervising all on-site construction activities. This includes overseeing project schedules, contractor performance, safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards. The FCC ensures field execution aligns with project scope, timelines, and operational requirements across transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Oversight
- Monitor construction progress and coordinate schedules with project leadership.
- Lead weekly construction meetings and validate contractor two-week lookahead schedules.
- Observe on-site contractor activities and report field issues or public concerns to project management.
- Review contractor invoices and material deliveries for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain detailed daily logs, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering and contractor teams to resolve field discrepancies.
- Initiate and manage outage requests through E-STAR/CONVEX systems.
- Ensure compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (M&PT) requirements in public rights-of-way.
- Support project closeout through documentation finalization and material reconciliation.
Safety Management
- Review and implement contractor Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Conduct safety briefings, daily observations, and weekly inspections.
- Ensure all site visitors complete required orientations and adhere to escort procedures.
- Investigate and document incidents, near misses, and safety violations.
- Recommend and track corrective and preventive actions (CAR/PAR).
Environmental Compliance
- Maintain and update the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
- Perform daily environmental inspections and prepare weekly reports.
- Ensure adherence to permit conditions and coordinate with regulatory authorities.
- Report and assist in investigating environmental incidents.
Quality Assurance
- Track contractor redline markups and confirm the latest issued-for-construction (IFC) drawing revisions.
- Review contractor test data, material receipts, and permit compliance.
- Conduct pre- and post-energization inspections and document findings.
- Support SAP data entry, ProjectWise updates, and final as-built documentation.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility field operations.
- Strong understanding of utility construction practices in transmission, distribution, substations, and underground networks.
- Familiarity with utility materials, asset condition assessment, and inspection programs.
- Demonstrated experience in contractor oversight and quality control.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Project).
- Experience with SAP .
- Ability to walk transmission and distribution lines in varied terrain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel within the service area, including overnight stays as required.
Certifications
- Background check clearance per contractor policy.
- Valid driver’s license.
- First Aid / AED certification.
- OSHA 30-hour safety certification.
