COTSWORKS seeks a Field Applications Engineer to support our unique and growing Mil/Aero market for in-house designed and manufactured optoelectronic products and solutions.
The Field Applications Engineer supports the sale and integration of COTSWORKS’ Opto-Electronic, Optical, and Interconnect product platforms. The individual in this role serves as a liaison between COTSWORKS and its customers with a focus on engineering and operations where integration or advanced support is required. The individual in this role works independently and collectively with the Inside Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams, using sound judgment and discretion when addressing and resolving customer needs. This full-time, salaried position reports to the Director of Inside Sales. Due to classified work at our facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. citizenship (No Green card or Visa) to be considered for a position at COTSWORKS.

Your tasks may include the following:
- Provides daily support to address and resolve customers’ technical questions related to COTSWORKS’ products.
- Meets with Sales and customers to understand the customer’s needs, requirements and issues, provide technical expertise to support pre- and post-sales.
- Travels to visit customers and provide on-site technical support.
- Maintains and produces reports documenting customer contacts, projects, status, and other essential information required to keep the sales team informed of customer needs.
- Manages and assists with PCNs, RMAs, and web support documentation as well as maintains data sheets, MRD, and project plans.
- Facilitates translating ideas into drawings, BOMs, and other customer-facing materials.
- Acts as a liaison between Sales, Purchasing, Product Marketing, Engineering, and the customer.
- Assists in occasional manufacturing of small parts for customers as needed.
- Participates in industry trade shows and standards meetings to promote COTSWORKS products and capabilities.
Qualification requirements include:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical sales and three (3) years of manufacturing or business experience are required.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in electrical and optical parameters of optical transceivers, optical networking, transmission protocols, and networking are required.
- Experience using standard engineering tools and applications (CAD, SolidWorks, Altium, etc.), excellent computer skills, and high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc.) and other standard office tools.
- Strong in analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Well-developed organizational, time management, and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.
- Highly customer-oriented and can build relationships while working collaboratively across diverse groups and functional areas.
- Highly skillful in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting to various audiences.
- High-level technical product knowledge and willingness to learn how COTSWORKS’ products work.
- Possesses a high level of professional and personal integrity.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%+ of the time.
