Summary

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) specializing in manometers provides advanced technical support to key customers, primarily major semiconductor equipment manufacturers in the Bay Area and other sites across North America.

This role leads technical engagements related to pressure measurement solutions, leveraging a deep understanding of customer equipment, process requirements, and industry trends to drive successful integration and contribute to product development initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Communicate regularly with customer equipment and process engineers.
  • Engage with customers’ R&D teams to understand their development roadmaps and facilitate technical discussions.
  • Manage the customer’s activity, requirements, applications, and expectations.
  • Perform product evaluations and support customer integration.
  • Identify and address complex technical issues at customer sites.
  • Propose technical solutions aligned with customer needs and development goals.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and internal engineering groups on technical projects and customer solutions.
  • Influence internal product development through deep process insights and field feedback.
  • Promote and manage co-development or joint evaluation projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other FAEs.
  • Conduct advanced technical training for internal teams and customers.
  • Prepare technical documents such as presentations, manuals, and test plans.
  • Maintain and update internal technical knowledge bases.
  • Represent the company in external technical forums, conferences, and industry consortia.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct reports, but expected to provide leadership and mentoring.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position conducted primarily in an office setting, with significant customer interface. The role uses standard equipment such as computers, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and phones, and can be fully in person.

General Requirements

  • Basic understanding of manometer operating principles.
  • Knowledge of key competitors and competitive pressure measurement products.
  • Deep knowledge of competitors’ manometer technologies, including the in operating principles and application challenges ().
  • Advanced expertise in semiconductor manufacturing processes, particularly in etching, CVD, and ALD.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment and key players such as Applied Materials, LAM Research, and similar global OEMs.
  • Familiarity with major semiconductor foundries in Europe or Asia, such as TSMC and Samsung, and their technical environments ().
  • Prior experience working directly with equipment manufacturers in the semiconductor industry.
  • Working knowledge of sensing and control technologies (temperature, pressure, flow) as they relate to semiconductor process equipment.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong technical relationships with equipment builders, R&D teams, and other engineering counterparts.
  • Experience managing or contributing to cross-functional and international technical initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of the sales process and how technical input influences customer decision-making and project advancement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to ask the right technical questions, gain customer trust, and support strategic accounts.
  • Self-driven, accountable, and proactive in identifying and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the flexibility to lead when needed and contribute to shared goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Physical Demands

Primarily office-based work, involving frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.

Regular customer visits for technical discussions, evaluations, and support.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours determined by supervisor
  • Working hours may vary depending on strategic engagements.

Travel

Travel required (approximately 10–20%), including international destinations.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

PhD .

10+ years of experience in a relevant technical role.

Specific Requirements

Strong technical network in the semiconductor industry and academia.

Experience in joint development, product roadmap contribution, and customer strategy alignment.
