This role combines technical skill, problem-solving, and customer service. You won't be stuck behind a desk - instead, you'll be in the field, working with state-of-the-art tools, solving challenges, and making a visible impact every day.

Think of it as being part technician, part troubleshooter, part community ambassador.

What You'll Do

You'll be trusted to handle a wide variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Installing and Maintaining Fiber Networks
    • Splice, terminate, and test multi-strand fiber-optic and shielded-twisted-pair (STP) cables.
    • Assist with aerial and underground installations, ensuring durability and safety.
    • Use tools like fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters to ensure peak performance.
  • Delivering Broadband and Related Services
    • Install and qualify broadband, wireless, and voice services.
    • Troubleshoot and repair wiring, connections, and equipment to keep customers connected.
    • Set up and maintain systems, train customers on usage, and ensure installations meet standards.
  • Customer-Facing Service
    • Serve as a professional and courteous representative of JCREMC and JCFiber.
    • Explain products, services, and features to customers in plain, easy-to-understand terms.
    • Maintain positive relationships and ensure every customer has a great experience.
  • Safety and Reliability
    • Operate vehicles (including bucket trucks) and equipment safely.
    • Follow all company and industry safety standards.
    • Be available for on-call repair work outside of normal hours, when needed.
  • Teamwork and Growth
    • Cooperate with Fiber Technicians, Manager of Fiber Operations, and other departments.
    • Maintain service vehicles and stock materials.
    • Participate in training, meetings, and community outreach programs.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing a job well and understands that quality and safety go hand in hand. Here's what helps you stand out:

  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience in communications, data, telephony, or video services is a plus.
    • Certifications such as Network+, BICSI Installer 2 (Optical Fiber or Copper), or Technician (TECH) are a plus, but not required.
  • Skills & Knowledge
    • Strong knowledge of fiber-optic and STP cable structures, network components, and best practices.
    • Ability to read and follow engineering specs, schematics, and diagrams.
    • Familiarity with broadband, video, security, wireless, or voice services.
    • Basic knowledge of electricity and in-home wiring.
    • Comfortable using computer programs and standard office software for job reporting.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Professional, courteous, and able to explain technical details clearly.
    • Independent worker who can also thrive in a team setting.
    • Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
    • Willingness to be flexible with hours and on-call work.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 60 pounds.
    • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Able to traverse rough terrain and occasionally work in confined spaces.
