Job Description

GTI Energy is seeking a facilities Manager for their new facility in Goodyear, AZ. The Facilities Manager is responsible for all facilities as well as machine upgrades and maintenance. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will work alongside other managers within the plant to ensure that facility operations and upgrades support project goals and demands. Ensure the Goodyear BESS manufacturing plant runs with maximum uptime by leading in-house security, custodial/waste, and equipment maintenance/reliability teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Oversee the general upkeep of the manufacturing plant, ensuring all building systems, such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and lighting, are functioning properly.
    • Perform regular inspections and manage the maintenance and repair of the facility’s infrastructure. Ensure that all facilities are clean and free of debris at all times.
    • Build and manage preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
    • Track and report reliability KPIs (uptime %, MTBF, downtime hours).
    • Asset/Tool tracking Implementation and upkeep
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment, including machinery, production lines, conveyors, and automated systems, to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  1. Oversee all plant equipment and facility support systems (compressed air, welders, lasers, HVAC, electrical, fire protection, etc.).
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:
    • Lead and perform troubleshooting and repairs on facility equipment, machinery, and systems when malfunctions or breakdowns occur. Ensure repairs are completed quickly and efficiently to minimize disruptions to production.
  • Preventive Maintenance Programs:
    • Establish and enforce a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for both facility systems and equipment to maximize reliability and lifespan. Track maintenance schedules and performance through maintenance management software.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized equipment repairs, parts procurement, and facility services. Ensure vendors meet quality standards and service level agreements.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all facility systems and equipment meet safety and regulatory standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
    • Lead and manage the in-house security team, ensuring 24/7 coverage of the facility.
    • Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and readiness within the security staff.
  • Emergency Repairs & Response:
    • Lead emergency response efforts for critical equipment failures or facility system breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and quick restoration of operations.
    • Maintain and continuously improve plant-wide access control, monitoring, and emergency response protocols.
  • Asset Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of all equipment, maintenance work performed, and parts inventory. Ensure proper documentation for all repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
    • Manage the upkeep budget for both facility systems and equipment. Identify areas for cost savings, such as extending equipment life, optimizing repair costs, and reducing waste.
  • Team Supervision & Development:
    • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and janitorial personnel. Provide training and guidance to ensure staff is well-equipped to perform maintenance tasks and respond to issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Custodial & Waste Management
    • Direct in-house custodial staff to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant facility.
    • Oversee waste handling, recycling, and hazardous waste management in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
    • Implement sustainability and efficiency initiatives to reduce waste-related costs.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years' experience in an operations management position, preferably as a facilities Manager
  • Proven ability to lead multi-functional in-house teams (maintenance, security, custodial).
  • Technical knowledge of industrial facilities and equipment systems.
  • Experience with CMMS, maintenance planning, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, accountability-driven approach.
  • Reduction of equipment downtime and improved reliability.
  • Security team performance and incident response readiness.
  • Facility cleanliness, safety, and waste management compliance.
  • Budget adherence across all facilities functions.
  • Strong understanding of machine upgrades and maintenance best practices
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing facilities including layouts, design, and operational best practices
  • Prior experience overseeing employees, including maintenance staff
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to quickly pivot between tasks and prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Previous experience in working with outside contractors
  • Proficient with operational safety requirements and guidelines in accordance with industry and local regulations
