Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJoin the team at Martha Jefferson House in Charlottesville, VA, as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. Help ensure our beautiful grounds and buildings remain safe and well-maintained for in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care.

Summary: Routinely keep the House, Perry Wing and Health Care Center in safe working order and the grounds, driveways and walkways clean and safe.

Essential Functions:

1. Paint, Drywall, light electrical and plumbing, and other facility maintenance items.
2. Maintains all grounds, including grass, flower beds, shrubbery, trees, sidewalks, and parking lots. This includes snow removal when necessary.
3. Performs floor surface/carpet cleaning upkeep throughout the facility.
4. Performs preventive maintenance of all mechanical devices such as generators, appliances, outdoor power equipment, and power tools.
5. Receives daily work orders regarding resident/facility requests. Completes as requested and refers all concerns/questions to the Director for resolution.
6. Assists as needed, including furniture moving and room decor.
7. Maintains cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the shop.
8. Wears personal protective devices (PPDs) when warranted.
9. Nights and weekend on-call hours may be required.
10. May perform other tasks as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Education: High School diploma or GED.
