Job Description:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure efficient and safe operations. This role involves managing a team of maintenance personnel, developing preventive maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance staff in the upkeep of equipment, irrigation systems, vehicles, and buildings.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to operations.
- Oversee the maintenance of greenhouse structures, shade houses, and cold storage facilities.
- Ensure proper functioning of irrigation systems, pumps, and water management infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair machinery, including tractors, forklifts, and specialized horticultural equipment.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with contractors for repairs and upgrades.
- Monitor inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies, ensuring timely procurement.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Train staff on proper maintenance procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Work closely with the Operations and Production teams to minimize disruptions to nursery workflows.
- Maintain maintenance logs and records for compliance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training .
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in an agricultural, nursery, or horticultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and irrigation systems.
- Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and farm machinery.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Leadership experience with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Understanding of workplace safety and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
