Facilities Maintenance Engineer/Supervisor

Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the general repairs and maintenance of the facility, custom machinery, and mechanical equipment as well as fabrication of new custom equipment. Works with engineering to analyze methods and manufacturing process problems to determine root cause and corrective actions. Performs work on gearboxes, rigging, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, screw compressors, vacuum pumps, fluid pumps, autoclaves, ovens, electrical troubleshooting, digital and analog instrumentation, and controls. Fabrication responsibilities include fabrication, design input, assembly, welding (TIG/MIG/Arc), hydraulic, pneumatic & controls of specialized equipment. Additional work lighting systems, HVAC unit freezers and light carpentry, machining, and machine building.

Essential Functions:

  1. Supervises maintenance crew and performs hands on functions in overall maintenance of facility and equipment.
  2. Manages contractors in maintenance and repair as needed
  3. Performs equipment repairs as necessary to ensure continued production flow
  4. Provides preventative maintenance of equipment to include development of plan and documentation compliance
  5. Fabricates parts to maintain/repair equipment
  6. Responsible for fabrication of new equipment; hydraulic, pneumatic, wiring, controls, assembly & welding
  7. Troubleshoots breakdown of equipment
  8. Participates in the continuous review of the manufacturing processes, focusing on opportunities for improvement in productivity, quality, and cost reduction
  9. Assists engineering in design development process
  10. Effectively manages job stress and interacts effectively with others in the workplace

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skill and, Ability to:

Interface with equipment operators, work order originators, and engineering staff to complete assignments

Function independently as well as part of a team

Mechanically repair equipment

Basic electrical wiring

Perform proficiently in Word and Excel

Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing

Demonstrate a sound understanding of mathematics

Work mainly day shifts and occasional off shift as needed, as well as weekend overtime

Weld on steel and aluminum (MIG/TIG/Arc)

Perform proficiently in operation of manual machining equipment (mill, lathe, drill press)


Education/Experience

Minimum of three years experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience may include a combination of technical school, college instruction and/or work experience.


PLC knowledge is ; will provide on the job training

Limited electrical license for facilities maintenance


Any combination of the experience, education, training, and requirements listed above which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position may be considered by management.

Reporting:

• Direct report to Operations Manager

• Works directly with other employees in a team environment

• Work with engineering, management and production crew for problem solving and production improvements

Work is primarily indoors in a manufacturing facility.
