Fabrication Workshop Supervisor
Location: Peterborough
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 3:00pm (some flexibility available)
Contract: Permanent
We're supporting a UK-based manufacturing business in the appointment of a Fabrication Workshop Supervisor to lead operations at their Peterborough facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on the fabrication of mild and stainless-steel frames for industrial storage systems. You'll supervise a small (but growing) team currently consisting of two Fabricators, ensuring the delivery of high-quality welding, cutting, and metal assembly work in line with production schedules and safety standards.
As the team expands, this role will evolve to include more office-based responsibilities, including resource planning, workflow optimisation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily workshop activities
Support MIG and TIG welding, metal cutting, and frame assembly operations
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards
Interpret engineering drawings and ensure correct execution on the shop floor
Assist in team development and contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of new staff
Collaborate with design and production teams to improve build processes
What We're Looking For:
Proven supervisory experience in a fabrication or welding environment
Strong technical understanding of metalwork and fabrication techniques
Confident in reading and working from engineering drawings
Knowledge of CAD software and continuous improvement methods is beneficial
A proactive, quality-focused mindset and the ability to lead from the front
