ROLE OVERVIEW

 

With Quality Control in mind as their “customer”, this role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality and Railfcraft USA. standard in welding railing products.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Receive priorities for day (according to schedule and complexity of tasks) from Lead at beginning of shift

  • Weld based on instructions and drawings, focusing on quality and timelines

  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements

  • Set up components for welding according to specifications

  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

  • Align component using calipers, rulers, clamp pieces, etc.

  • Weld components using manual or semi-auto welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

  • Visually inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

  • Take completed welded parts to buffers and sign off on documentation

  • Wear appropriate safety gear at all times (e.g. safety glasses, mask, earplugs, steel-toe footwear, etc.)

  • Maintains a safe and clean workspace to prevent risk to health.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related or delegated duties as needed

  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications, using square, ruler, measuring tape, and angle finder.

  • Responsible for safeguarding all company confidential information obtained in connection with employment whether oral, written or electronic which shall include all information which has been specifically designated as confidential by the employer in a manner which ensures confidentiality as outlined in Railcraft USA. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/KPI’S

  • Double check all cut pieces before welding for cutting accuracy, oil or any other contamination

  • Conformance to weld quality on all work

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc.)

  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.

  • Ability to pass CWB weld test

  • Willingness and ability to work hard physically; stand for most of day

  • Ability to lift/move approximately 50 pounds

  • Ability to operate machines and equipment safely, and willingness to use protective clothing at all times (face shield, gloves etc.).

  • Basic math comprehension

  • Must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team

  • Experience in manufacturing or construction.

  • Reliable and punctual to work every day

  • Willingness to work overtime on short notice and as required.

  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship

  • Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, repetitive environment

  • Willingness and ability to learn machines and equipment and operate them safely.

  • Willingness and ability learn machines and equipment

  • Ability to communicate and work well with others & help in other areas as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Welding ticket

  • Experience welding aluminum

  • Familiarity with machine shop practices

  • Experience with hand tools and stationary tools such as grinders, band saws, belt sanders, drill press, chop saws, etc. etc.

  • Basic English but excellent interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of all products

  • Previous installation and/or construction experience
