Job Description
Exterior designs Engineer
Working with a major high-class automotive manufacturer
This role sits at the heart of exterior design development, shaping bumpers, grilles, finishers and underfloor systems from first sketch through to production sign-off.
What you must bring
• Strong experience in automotive engineering with a clear track record in exterior systems
• Hands-on work across bumpers, grilles, exterior finishers and underfloor shields
• Proficiency in automotive CAD software (CATIA V6, 3DX).
• Understanding of plastics, tooling, manufacturing processes and exterior component regulations
• Ability to lead technical work streams and steer delivery
Good to have
• Knowledge of product creation, change control and structured problem-solving
• Experience in testing and verification at component, system and vehicle level
• Confident communication and stakeholder management
• Familiarity with project or agile delivery methods
What you will do
• Lead design and delivery of exterior commodities to quality, cost and timing
• Maintain and update WERS / iCreate and APQP deliverables
• Oversee change requests, cost forecasting and supplier engagement
• Plan and support vehicle test activities and resolve engineering issues
• Ensure all designs meet regulatory, weight, cost and crafted quality standards
• Keep documentation crisp and current, and support wider programme needs
