Job Description
*Your new role*\n As a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator you will be responsible for providing procedural and commercial support to contracts across South West Wales. You will be involved with the cost planning of frameworks for public sectors, reviewing project affordability, providing commercial advice and cost saving methods of construction. You will also contribute to responses quality for the element of bids and pre-qualifications and compiling commercial and cost reports regularly.
\n*What You'll Need To Succeed*\n You will have experience of working in a similar role, a related accredited construction qualification, excellent knowledge of Excel, knowledge of Evaluate, excellent knowledge of building techniques and methods and understanding of cost implications involved with different types of building methods and materials. \n*Responsibilities:*\n· Preparing and estimating budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications. \n· Evaluate offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
\n· Resolve cost by analysing and collecting info. \n· Write up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans. \n· Develops bids for construction projects.
\n· Works closely with architects and other professionals. \n· Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff. \n· Navigate and understand building codes.
\n· Process paperwork and travel to building sites as required. \n· Monitor construction processes. \n· Stay up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
\n*Construction Estimator Qualifications and Skills:*\n· Strong maths skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic \n· Ability to navigate specifications and plans \n· Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects \n· Ability to handle multiple assignments at once \n· Knowledge of the latest building codes \n· Close attention to detail \n· Excellent written and verbal communication skills \n· Familiarisation with Evaluate software would be advantageous \n*Education and Experience Requirements:*\n· Professional qualifications in quantity surveying / building estimation \n· A proven track record of estimating projects for residential dwellings & commercial up to £7m per annum. \n· Ideally also experience in working within affordable housing markets. \n*Key Skills/attributes*\n Proactive and willingness to take the lead on own initiative and under minimal supervision.
