Join a Leading Precision Engineering Company in Coventry\n\nAmbitek are looking for an Estimator for our client, an engineering business delivering high-precision, large-scale machined components to critical industries including oil & gas, nuclear, defence, and aerospace. Operating from our advanced manufacturing facility in Coventry, we are known for quality, reliability, and engineering excellence.\n\nThey are currently looking for an experienced Estimator to support our continued growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in precision engineering and desirable experience in the oil & gas sector.\n\nRole Summary:\nAs an Estimator, you’ll play a key role in our commercial team—preparing detailed costings and competitive quotations for high-value machining projects.
This is a varied and hands-on role requiring strong engineering knowledge and commercial acumen.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nAnalyse engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to produce accurate cost estimates.\n\nCalculate machining times, materials, labour, tooling, and subcontract costs.\n\nCollaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to gather relevant costing data.\n\nPrepare formal quotations for customers, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.\n\nManage and track the quotation pipeline, ensuring follow-up and feedback.\n\nLiaise with clients to clarify requirements and support commercial discussions.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.\n\nDesirable Experience:\nExperience estimating for projects in the oil & gas industry.\n\nUnderstanding of complex machining processes for components used in high-pressure, harsh environments.\n\nFamiliarity with materials commonly used in the sector (e.g. Inconel, duplex stainless steels).\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\nProven experience as an Estimator in a precision engineering or CNC machining environment.\n\nStrong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.\n\nExcellent numerical and analytical skills.\n\nCommercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.\n\nExperience with ERP/MRP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).\n\nEngineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or similar)\npreferred.\n\nHours Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00\nSalary upwards from 35k - dependent on experience
