What you will be doing:
Responsible for participating in design reviews for (power) plant systems, structures, and componentswithin the individual's area of expertise.
Participation and understanding of both design/build and build to spec contracts
Interpret project drawings and specifications, analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation
Create sketches, drawings, and specifications to meet client requirements
Responsible for accurate take-off of quantities from project drawings and specifications
Responsible for the preparations and documentation of project estimates following estimating policy and procedures
Analyzes sub-trade quotations, liaison with subcontractors for clarification of issues
Estimate Preparation - labor hours, material costs; tender form requirement tools & equipment lists; scheduling; and compile bid packages for subcontractors
Prepares bid bond applications
Participate in turnover meetings with Project Management on successful bids
Site visits may be required on more complex tenders
Maintains tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems/procedures
Costs out potential scope of work changes and bid to construction reviews
Costs out potential additional costs claim situations
Tender closings i.e., review of documents, compile proposal information, participate in closing meetings
Customer follow-up of proposals
Address any addendum's, change orders etc. Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her manager
What you must have:
Minimum 5 - 8 years' of Power Plant experiencewithin an estimating department; having Nuclear experience is strongly
Strong estimating background on large capital projects
Experience managing lump sum projects with large value
Exceptional organizational skills
Strong communication skills - oral and written
Common sense, concentration, imagination, ability to read and understand drawings, self-assurance, responsible attitude, and leadership qualities.
Good knowledge of sub trades
Trade Certification and/or P. Eng / CET, or equivalent industry experience
Trade - Pipefitter, Boilermaker, Millwright, or Ironworker background
Good familiarity with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment including Aecon personnel, vendors, consultants, and clients
Ability to write Proposals
Ability to develop Level 3, 4 schedules using MS Projects or Primavera P6
