Summary

We are representing a well-established mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to support estimating efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical estimating skills who wants to be part of a collaborative team and deliver accurate, competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical construction projects including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related scopes

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor scopes

  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine full project scope

  • Work with the Project Management team to develop budgets and cost forecasts

  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and confirm scope alignment

  • Develop, organize, and maintain detailed bid packages, logs, and estimate documentation

  • Attend job walks and gather site conditions to support accurate estimates

  • Assist with pricing change orders and proposals as needed

  • Monitor historical cost data and maintain estimating databases

  • Communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and clarifications to internal teams

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of estimating experience in mechanical construction

  • Background with HVAC, plumbing, or piping systems

  • Proficient in quantity takeoffs and interpretation of mechanical drawings and specs

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously

  • Familiarity with estimating tools and takeoff software

  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams including PMs, engineers, and field personnel
