ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR – Commercial Construction

Shaffer’s Electrical Contracting, Inc. based out of Sanford, Florida, is seeking a full-time Electrical Estimator who will determine the approximate costs of various electrical installations for commercial projects.

Summary: The Estimator will own the estimate, run takeoffs, conduct hard bids, provide detailed budgets, drive vendor pricing, and deliver accurate and competitive proposals that protect margin base.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analyzing blueprints to determine how long each contracting job will last.
• Determine the amount, type, and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each electrical project.
• Evaluating labor and material costs to determine whether it is more feasible to construct electrical components or subcontract the construction of components.
• Determine the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.
• Complete and submit competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.
• Research market prices for project materials and equipment.
• Ability to communicate with clients and determine the scope of each project.
• Must be able to identify ways to continually improve cost-estimating procedures to reduce inconsistencies between estimated and actual project cost.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable to operate a company vehicle.
• Some travel may be required.
• All duties as assigned.

Must Have Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience of electrical estimating in a commercial setting.
• Must be well-versed and proficient in Blue Beam and Accubid software.
• Must be able to read and analyze blueprints to determine the electrical needs of various projects and provide solutions to increase profitability and prepare project bids.
• Strong scope/proposal writing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Must have sound knowledge of electrical codes.
• Ability to meet deadlines, have good organizational skills and be meticulous is a must.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Must be proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

SALARY PAY RANGE: $60,000 to $75,000 Annually
