Estimator Core Responsibilities

• Review initial plans, specifications, schedule lists, and job opportunities with project managers
• Prepares construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs
• Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials
• Identify qualified subcontractors and negotiate price
• Calculate take-offs when required with estimating software and scale methods
• Maintain job reports and estimating tracker
• Maintains quality service by following organizational standards
• Create, submit, and track RFI’s as needed during bid/estimating process
• Work directly with architects, engineers, and designers when needed in creating value engineering, alternates, and changes within the department

Estimator Skills And Qualifications

• 5 years of Estimating experience with construction
• Proficient at Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, and various estimating software (Procore and AGTEK a plus)
• Great problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in reading and understanding plans
