SUMMARY

The Estimator – Construction is responsible for maximizing profitability by evaluating and accessing construction project costs prior to project selection by determining the costs of labor and material within 95% accuracy through controlling resources to maximize productivity and exceed budgeted financial goals and objectives.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports to the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides exceptional customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.

  • Works alongside the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group to evaluate customer requests and provides work order descriptions and project pricing.

  • Works with the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group, as a lead member of the team, to coordinate construction projects and jobs to ensure the most efficient and accurate use of time and resources for each take off including, but not limited to, equipment, material, labor durations and total costs.

  • Reads and interprets plans, reports, and product specifications to determine construction project costs and selections including costs of labor and materials within 95% of accuracy. Performs quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates.

  • Works with the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group to line up design team (when applicable), subcontractors and trade partners to perform project construction.

  • Quantifies architectural, structural, and/ or civil elements of a project where the design is near completion or complete.

  • Analyzes variances to root cause and provides solution to ensure that the problem is corrected to not repeat budgeted errors.

  • Assists the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group by providing job training and development and by consistently demonstrating proficiency in all essential duties.

  • Works with the Head of Office – Beaumont Building Group and the Operations to set goals for individual production based on job schedule and budget requirements.

  • Works closely with other departments to ensure the proper transfer of all service work business data.

  • Controls, vets, and analyzes all unit rates for material, equipment, and labor for most accurate bidding techniques.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.

  • Ability to read, follow and understand construction documents.

  • Experience in pricing, purchasing, and working with subcontractors and trade partners.

  • Experience in commercial and residential construction.

  • Experience in digital takeoff and estimation software.

  • Must be able to communicate well and work well with others and provide exceptional customer service both internally and externally. Field experience is a plus so that estimates can be based upon experiences and knowledge gained.
