The Role\n\nA well-established RC frame and groundworks contractor in East London is looking for an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pricing reinforced concrete frame and groundwork packages for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This is a key role in supporting the business’s continued growth through accurate, competitive, and profitable tendering.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for RC frame and groundwork projects ranging from £500k to £20m+.\n\n * Analyse tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.\n\n * Liaise with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and scope.\n\n * Attend tender meetings, site visits, and liaise with internal departments.\n\n * Build up rates from first principles for labour, plant, materials, and subcontract works.\n\n * Submit tenders within deadlines and follow up with clients to understand outcomes.\n\n * Provide value engineering input and alternative solutions where appropriate.\n\n * Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and tender documentation.\n\n * Contribute to post-tender negotiations and handover to the delivery team.\n\nThe Requirements\n\n * Minimum 3–5 years of estimating experience in RC frame and/or groundworks.\n\n * Strong understanding of formwork, falsework, rebar, concrete pours, and site logistics.\n\n * Competent in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and structural details.\n\n * Proficient with estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Candy, Causeway) and MS Excel.\n\n * Commercially astute with good negotiation and communication skills.\n\n * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced pre-construction environment.\n\n * Right to work in the UK and based within commuting distance of East London.\n\n * HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.\n\n * Experience pricing for both private and public sector clients.\n\n * Knowledge of NEC and JCT contract pricing structures.\n\nThe Benefits\n\n * Competitive salary and package\n\n * Career progression into Senior Estimator / Pre-Construction Manager roles\n\n * Supportive team environment with a strong pipeline of secured work\n\n * Hybrid working options after probation (if applicable)\n\n * Opportunity to work on high-profile London construction schemes
