Stevens Construction Corp. is a commercial general contractor with self-performed trades of concrete, carpentry, and prefabricated walls. We specialize in the new construction of commercial, multi-unit and mixed-use buildings.

The Equipment Mechanic will be based out of our Yard Operations in Cottage Grove, WI. Responsibilities include:

  • Repair construction equipment in shop and onsite as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on our construction equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance follow OSHA, DOT, and manufacturer standards.
  • Test equipment to verify success of repairs.
  • Use basic computer skills to look up parts, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly working area.
  • Collaborate with Yard Operations teammates, drivers and field crews to address equipment needs quickly.
  • Communicate with Yard Foreman & Superintendent regarding major repairs, downtime and budget needs.
  • Follow all safety rules, regulations and practices in performing all work assignments.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' mechanical experience preferably with heavy equipment
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required to meet company insurance standards. CDL is a plus
  • Must provide own in-shop tools
  • Working knowledge of diesel mechanics
  • Experience with diagnosing electrical, mechanical and hydraulic issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying motivated to complete tasks efficiently
  • Ability to consistently work 45 hours a week
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry material up to 50lbs on a consistent basis
  • Welding/fabrication experience is a plus
