Summary: Perform maintenance duties as assigned/needed.

Essential Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Observes all safety rules and company regulations
  • Read common measuring devices
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Functions as a helper for higher skilled positions
  • Must obtain Forklift Operator license
  • Must be trained and competent in man lift operation
  • Working knowledge of electrical, welding, and cutting equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, sketches and electrical schematics
  • Machine installation and operating instructions
  • Assist higher skilled Techs with repairs and installation of equipment
  • Knowledge of common machine shop equipment (lathes, drills, boring, blade sharpening)
  • Must be skilled in mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance functions

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to work extra hours and weekends, call ins, as needed
  • Keep work area clean and tidy
  • Report unsafe work conditions
  • Respond as directed to spills or leaks
  • Perform general maintenance duties as assigned
  • Provide personal hand tools and small power tools as needed to effectively accomplish assigned tasks
  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical and maintenance of various equipment
  • Must be capable of starting up and shutting down boilers without assistance from upper level techs
  • Good attendance and punctuality required

Education, Training, Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Will be required to take specialized training as needed
  • Must demonstrate basic PLC programming skills
  • Formal documented technical training of one year or more in Industrial Maintenance

Physical requirements:

  • Standing – 100% Reaching – 90% Squatting – 60%
  • Walking – 100% Lifting – may be over 30 lbs.
  • Climbing – 40% Push/pull – 75%
  • Work in dirty, dusty, grease, steam and heat. All types of conditions.
