The BBPTD Environmental Sustainability Team has a wide background of team players, with a projecthands-on approach, who support each other and their projects on environment and sustainabilitymatters to look after the local environment and aid project delivery.What you'll be doingAs Environmental Sustainability Manager - England and Wales yourmain responsibilities include; Provide advice, support and direction to your operational project management team to enablethem to deliver environmentally compliant projects and sustainable opportunities in line withenvironmental legislation, BB procedures and client requirements and the building new futuresstrategyManage a team of ES Advisors, Projects Ecologists and Project Archaeologists to ensure thesuccessful delivery of a range of ES deliverables including discharge of planning conditions,completion of all archaeological work, implementation of ecological mitigations and delivery ofclient sustainability requirementsProvide high level review of ES content in construction methodologies, risk registers, price buildups, programmes and other project specific deliverablesReport on good practices and investigate and report on environmental incidents to the projectteams and the client with the support of your colleaguesLead and manage incident investigations and non-conformancesTake part in lessons learnt exercises and consider areas for improvementsWork with the Head of Sustainability to promote Zero Harm objectives and Building New Futuresstrategies and drive continuous improvement of performanceBe the main point of contact for regulators and other environmental stakeholders on the project, proactively engaging with them over areas of concern or difficultyWho we're looking forFor this role, the following qualities/experience are essential: A relevant degree or equivalent in an environmental disciplineThorough working knowledge of current environmental legislationStrong working knowledge of the construction sector, preferably UtilitiesExperience in deciphering technical documents and translating into operational termsStrong background in assessing environmental hazards and understanding of the mechanisms ofhow to mitigateAwareness or knowledge of Biodiversity Net GainPrevious experience of dealing with regulatorsDemonstrated successful capability in effective communication skills at all levels, ability to buildrelationships across all levels of the organisation and competent in producing reportsProfessional and pragmatic team player who can build and sustain effective workingrelationshipsStrong business awareness, employee focus and attention to detailProgramme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documentingprogressCommercial awareness of contracting and experience of managing subcontractorsValid Driving LicenceInterest in the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment.Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook The following qualities/experience are desirable: Appropriate IEMA level or equivalent professional accreditationWorking knowledge of E&S Management systemsGIS knowledge and working experience (ArcGIS, QGIS)Experience of delivering against CEEQUAL/BREEAMiWhy work for usDay in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UKs most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.Why join us?As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasnt rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too.
