WSP is hiring an
Environmental Stormwater/GIS Planner
with technical skills in GIS analysis, stormwater, environmental policy, and compliance services for our
Herndon, Virginia
office.
The ideal candidate will have experience using ESRI GIS platforms to analyze, visualize, and report data for municipal and industrial stormwater or environmental programs and knowledge of stormwater monitoring, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits, and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) planning. Experience with watershed planning, stream assessments, and green infrastructure management solutions, industrial facility stormwater permitting, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development is also a plus.
Your Impact
Development and implementation of stormwater program tracking, compliance, and data visualization tools
Perform field investigations and GIS data processing to support stormwater program implementation, stormwater site assessments, and pollutant reduction plans
Some travel/field work is required to perform stormwater monitoring and to conduct site assessments, typically 10-20% of the time per year (usually in the mid-Atlantic US)
Preparation of stormwater policies, manuals, checklists, studies, reports, assessments, public education/outreach materials, etc.
Provide technical support in the areas of environmental and stormwater management research, field work, stormwater analysis, and stormwater monitoring
Evaluate stormwater program and project costs
Attend client meetings and prepare meeting minutes
Coordinate with WSP project team members (and subcontractors when used)
Participate in local and regional water resources organizations, as appropriate on behalf of WSP
Who You Are
Required Qualification:
BS in Planning, GIS and Spatial Data Science, Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or related field
1-3 years of related knowledge and direct involvement in:
urban hydrology and water quality principles
municipal stormwater quality management (i.e., MS4 permits, TMDLs, and water quality monitoring)
ArcGIS software for data management, spatial analysis, creating maps, and providing insights for decision-making (intermediate to advanced proficiency required)
ArcGIS Online feature services, web maps, web apps, Field Maps, and Survey123 (intermediate to advanced proficiency required)
Qualifications:
Experience with QA/QC of large datasets and GIS products
Experience developing and configuring ArcGIS Online web applications, dashboards, Field Maps and Survey123 forms
Experience in stormwater monitoring plan development, assessment, and reporting
Experience in Python/Visual Basic programming
Experience in technical writing
