Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The responsibility for the Environmental Services Tech is to provide a clean, safe and friendly environment for patients, visitors, and associates by providing housekeeping services. Environmental Services Tech is responsible for cleaning tasks in patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
Cleaned assigned areas according to required method:
Bathrooms
Residential (Patient) Rooms
Hallways and Elevators
Offices
Classrooms
Lobbies
Activity Rooms
Outpatient
Nursing stations and Medication room
Patios
Entrances, Sidewalks and Stairways
Patient Seclusion Rooms
Kitchens Dinning Rooms
Workshop
Dumpsters
Performs Special Environmental Services projects as directed and according to required procedures:
Strip and Wax tile floors
Buffing Tile floors
Shampoo carpets
Clean exterior windows
Clean interior windows
Clean refrigerators
Clean light fixtures
Wash walls, floors, baseboards and clean air vents
Special event setup and clean chapel
Complete high dusting regularly and to acceptable standards.
Stock linen closet and keep s area clean and orderly.
Collect and separate soiled linen as assigned.
Performs laundry operation as directed and according to required procedures.
Maintain housekeeping supplies in an adequate quantity.
Routinely empties trash in: Offices, residential rooms, bathrooms, showers and bathtub lounges.
Conscious of patient and employee safety while completing job duties.
Keep housekeeping supplies storage area clean and orderly
Effectively spot clean as needed.
Collect trash from trash carts and closets and transport to dumpster.
Maintain an objective, professional relationship with patients at all times
Assist in picking up community donations as directed.
Maintain job interest and technical skills
Responds appropriately to stressful or difficult emergency situations
Able to arrive at sound conclusion after getting and analyzing all pertinent facts.
Willing and able to work independently
Keeps self and uniform clean and well groomed.
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
Experience in laundry
Operate and maintain selected equipment
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals

Qualifications
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES
Some formal education sufficient to have reading and writing skills.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of successful work experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
Valid California Driver's license.
Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
* Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by onboarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).
