Environmental Services Operations Manager

Job Summary

Manages the Environmental Services Department to maintain hospital environment in sanitary, attractive, safe and orderly condition. Establishes and controls departmental budgets. Plans, schedules, directs and inspects the work of all environmental services employees. Arranges for supply of all cleaning supplies and equipment.

Essential Functions

Manages those who schedule, assign and distribute work among department employees. Ensures department work assignments are completed in a manner that is accurate and timely.

Establishes and communicates appropriate quality standards for designated services and programs. Implements procedures for measuring quality standards.

Inspects and evaluates physical condition of hospital. Recommends painting, repairs, furnishing, relocation of equipment.

Conducts research to improve environmental services technology. Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment. Makes recommendations based on findings.

Develops, evaluates, implements, and revises policies and procedures for department that maximize the control and prevention of infections.

Arranges for supply of housekeeping material, equipment and related items necessary to permit the proper performance of housekeeping services.

Manages the activities of professional and support employees who are engaged in providing for a hospital environment that is sanitary, attractive, safe and orderly. Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.

Develops, implements, and maintains departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Healthcare Management, Business or related field, or equivalent

3 years of relevant experience managing an environmental services function in the health care industry Required

Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Spectrum Health Required
