The Environmental Services (EVS) team member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This role includes cleaning and disinfecting casino public areas, restrooms, offices, and high-security zones such as cash cages and chip count rooms. The EVS team plays a crucial role in presenting a polished and hygienic atmosphere that enhances the guest and team member experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs general cleaning and sanitation duties across casino offices and public areas in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors, using manual tools and powered cleaning equipment as appropriate.
  • Washes and maintains floor mats and carpets; operates scrubbers, polishers, and shampooers.
  • Cleans light fixtures, exhaust vents, walls, and upholstery to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Utilizes only approved cleaning materials and chemicals in accordance with safety and usage guidelines.
  • Cleans high-security areas such as cash cages and chip count rooms in compliance with operational protocols.
  • Ensures all cleaning tools and materials are properly stored, maintained, and used safely.
  • Assists in heavy-duty cleaning projects and special tasks as directed by the EVS Supervisor.
  • Maintains awareness of surroundings and practices safe cleaning techniques to avoid hazards.
  • Perform trash pick up and debris removal in exterior parking lots, walkways, and entrances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the cleanliness and presentation of the property.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, materials, and chemical usage.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrates reliability, initiative, and pride in work performance.
  • Ability to operate department equipment and vehicles safely.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent .
  • Additional training in custodial services, sanitation, or hospitality is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or janitorial work.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment, tools, and chemical safety in commercial or hospitality settings.
  • Ability to perform general and detailed cleaning duties in guest rooms, restrooms, offices, and public areas.
  • Understanding of OSHA standards, sanitation procedures, and proper waste disposal methods.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently, independently, or in a team.
  • Prior experience in a casino, resort, hospital, or large-scale facility is .

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required. Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License and eligibility for coverage under Morongo’s insurance requirements.

SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries cleaning supplies, tools, trash bags, linens, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; may assist with moving furniture, cleaning machinery, or large debris as required.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and fingers to handle cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies, including vacuums, mops, brooms, and sprayers.
  • Mobility: Continuously moves throughout assigned areas including hotel, casino, restrooms, offices, and back-of-house spaces; requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, stooping, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Stationary Work: Rarely remains seated; the position requires constant physical activity while performing cleaning duties throughout various areas of the property.
  • Tool Operation: Frequent use of vacuums, floor scrubbers, mop buckets, chemical dispensers, dusters, carts, and handheld radios; responsible for safe and proper use of all cleaning tools and materials.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires near and far vision to identify soiled areas, read safety labels, inspect cleaned surfaces, and ensure completion of detailed tasks.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, noise, temperature changes, and various lighting conditions. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through or cleaning casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
