Purpose
Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
Collaborate with staff at Boulder, CO and other sites to implement company-wide safety and health policies.
Lead the development and execution of EH&S programs including:
Contractor & construction safety
Industrial hygiene
Chemical management
Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO)
Confined space entry
Powered industrial trucks
Electrical safety
Hazard communication
DOT dangerous goods
Warehouse & laboratory safety
Chemical hygiene
Hearing conservation
Environmental sustainability
Provide project management support and act as a liaison with SMEs to drive compliance, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement technical safety initiatives that support operations efficiently and on schedule.
Oversee safety programs to ensure safe, compliant operation of manufacturing systems.
Administer Industrial Hygiene (IH) program, including testing, protocols, and risk-based IH strategy.
Deliver environmental/sustainability programs: air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, pollution prevention, hazardous waste, reporting.
Manage PSM (Process Safety Management) aspects: PHA, MOC, MI.
Act as tactical EH&S liaison on site expansion/construction projects.
Serve as EH&S representative for site’s business units.
Enhance risk assessment processes to proactively mitigate risks.
Lead/participate in investigations, compliance concerns, and regulatory questions.
Support development and implementation of the site’s EHS Management System.
Collaborate cross-functionally (Manufacturing, QC, Chemical/Analytical Labs, Engineering) to ensure regulatory compliance.
Partner with US EH&S teams to implement global initiatives and align practices.
Serve on the site’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), responding within training level (CPR, First Aid, AED, chemical spill response).
Perform other EH&S duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, engineering, or applied sciences.
10+ years related EH&S experience.
Desired Skills
EHS certifications (CSP, CIH).
GMP experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Experience in PSM facility.
Strong knowledge of EH&S principles, laws, and regulations.
Proven ability to design and implement EH&S Management Systems.
Ability to assess processes/equipment for risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
Experience in research labs, biotechnology, or pharma environments.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Accurate record-keeping.
