JOB SUMMARY:
A functional manager without direct people management; responsible for day-to-day EHS activities of a 24/7, rotating shift production organization.
The EHS Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting plant EHS initiatives by proactively identifying risks and coordinating strategies for risk mitigation. Key responsibilities include initiating and overseeing incident investigations, providing data for workers' compensation claim setup, and analyzing site incident trends to inform corrective actions for site leadership. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and updating the site's OSHA log, conducting new hire safety training, and facilitating monthly safety training sessions. Routine inspections of satellite waste locations, stormwater outfalls, and visual emissions observations are also essential duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure adherence of Kymera International corporate EHS policies, safety procedure compliance, and of companywide initiatives in site specific policies.
- Identify health, safety, and environmental concerns and oversee corrective actions.
- Lead engineering projects related to safety or environmental corrective actions.
- Being able to build, coach and mentor a “from the roots up" safety culture
- Audit all new and/or revised workstation procedures (WSP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Drive the site to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations, including reporting, testing, and inspections.
- Direct and coordinate Safety Committee functions.
- Ensure completion of all required safety inspections in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with Supervisors and Managers to maintain compliance with personnel safety training requirements, conducting and documenting safety training as necessary.
- Provide timely updates on EHS incidents to Corporate EHS Director and site leadership.
- Manage and administer site workers' compensation claims.
- Conduct/Oversee all safety and/or environmental audits.
- Monitor and track the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate all Safety Incident activities, including responding to incidents, ensuring thorough incident reports are completed, evaluating root causes, developing corrective actions with Supervisors and Managers, ensuring compliance with corrective actions, and reporting all information to site leadership.
- Regularly monitor production areas to identify and resolve safety issues in accordance with protocols and procedures.
- Review, evaluate, and audit the company's 5S program in relation to safety.
- Manage and maintain site environmental permits, FIFRA registrations, and TSCA requirements.
- Manage sites air monitoring and chemical exposure monitoring programs.
- Manage sites Hearing Conservation Program.
- Manage sites prescription safety glass and sites safety shoe program. .
- Conduct weekly new hire and respirator fit testing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of EHS management
- Minimum five (5) years of functional manager experience.
- Minimum seven (7) years of industrial experience.
