Do you love data and have a keen eye for quality? Serco has an opportunity supporting the EPA where you could make a daily impact as an environmental data validation and quality assurance lead.

Serco supports the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at various locations including Chelmsford, MA; Edison, NJ; Ft. Meade, MD; and Chicago, IL. Join our team to help the EPA protect human health and the environment.

In this role, you will:

Review and validate organic (volatiles, semi-volatiles, pesticides, PCBs) and dioxin/PCB congener data using USEPA guidelines and SOPs.

Review and validate ICP/AES and ICP/MS metals data per NFGs.

Possibly work with other organic, inorganic, and HRMS methods.

Prepare detailed reports on findings.

Manage electronic data across platforms.

Monitor workflow, backlogs, and performance metrics.

Conduct SOP reviews as needed.

Trend and monitor key performance metrics.

Support development and review of QA documents such as statements of work, reporting procedures, data validation manuals, etc.

Maintain laboratory-related documents and support QA program implementation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.

8+ years in an environmental laboratory or EPA methods (6 years with MS, 4 years with PhD).

Experience managing analytical or data validation chemists or QA personnel.

Expertise in organic and inorganic analyses and data review.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL, Monday through Friday.

Ability to obtain EPA Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work evenings and weekends if required.

Ability to stand for long periods.

Work inside a chemical laboratory and handle chemicals.

Wear PPE as necessary.

Additional Skills (Desired)

OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification.

2+ years as an organic/inorganic chemist or lab technician.

First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

This position is contingent upon contract award. Serco may offer relocation assistance. Salary range: $67,890 - $113,150, depending on experience and qualifications.
