About being our Environmental Biologist - Senior Project Manager

This position would primarily support work generated by our Environmental Group that can be based out of the

Santa Ana, Pasadena or Los Angeles, CA

office locations, but may also support other Psomas offices as needed. As a

Biologist - Senior Project Manager

in our

Resource Management team

at Psomas, this position will be a mix of office work and fieldwork, as determined by the career interests of the individual filling the position. The

Senior Project Manager/Biologist

would be expected to perform project biological studies and other varied industry duties, such as preparing proposals, project management and budget tracking, scheduling/overseeing preparation of biological studies, report writing, resource agency consultation, and management of junior staff.

Responsibility Highlights for our Environmental Biologist - Senior Project Manager

Manage large/complex projects, coordinate activities, conduct/oversee biological studies, report writing, resource agency consultation and assist with other varied industry duties

Manage/PM large-scale proposals and prepares or oversees scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for letter proposals

Schedule/coordinate field studies, including managing biological staff and subconsultants as needed

Coordinate with support staff (GIS, editing, word processing)

Prepare a variety of report types (Biological Constraints Reports, Biological Technical Reports, Biological Resources sections of CEQA documents, Focused Survey Reports, etc.)

Act as Senior Review, QA/QC for technical work completed by others

Prepare invoices, approve subconsultant invoices, and track project financials to stay within assigned project budgets

Attend meetings (in person and online), including leading meetings as needed

Interact with clients, biological staff, subconsultants, resource agency personnel and technical leads from other disciplines

Provide technical training and cross-training to staff, and mentor junior biologists

Participate in professional organization(s) appropriate to technical expertise and/or business development

Actively seek out and win new business and new clients to develop a list of client contacts

Participate in Strategic Planning

Minimum Qualifications to be our Environmental Biologist - Senior Project Manager

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Botany, Field Ecology, Wildlife, or related organismic biology field

Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Biologist

Prior project management experience at a consulting firm or resource agency

Specialist in the identification of biological resources of Southern California

Specialist on current species protocols, regulatory requirements, and processes

Qualifications to be our Environmental Biologist - Senior Project Manager

Master's degree in similar fields

Extensive knowledge of various survey guidelines, vegetation mapping and classification, and most common wildlife that rely on common habitat types within Southern California

Extensive knowledge of GPS/GIS, federal and state Endangered Species Acts, State Fish and Game Codes, and NEPA/CEQA

A competitive salary! The expected range for this position is $115,000 - $163,000/salary depending on experience

Compensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates

8 Paid Holidays & 3-4 Weeks of PTO (depending on experience)
