AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Chicago on November 20-21, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. AECOM is seeking an
Entry Level Energy Engineer
to be based in
Chicago, Illinois .
The position could begin as early as January 2026 or May/June 2026.
Responsibilities
Create electrical engineering designs and contract documents under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer.
Design new modifications to existing medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems.
Design and document normal, standby, and emergency power distribution systems.
Complete electrical design calculations including system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations.
Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing review, site observations, and RFI responses.
Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Coordinate design solutions with other design professionals.
Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and specifications under the supervision of a Sr. Electrical Engineer.
Performing assignments under the direction of a Sr. Electrical Engineer requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgement and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, AGI, SKM, ETAP, and AGI32).
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Highly motivated and independent self-starter.
Previous relevant or professional experience.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
