Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-Paced
As an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer in Columbia, South Carolina, you'll be a key contributor to subsurface exploration and drilling activities, supporting dynamic infrastructure projects. Guided by a Licensed Engineer, you'll build practical field experience, perform technical evaluations, and strengthen your skills in writing professional reports.
What You'll Do:
- Field Activities Oversight: Oversee and direct site exploration and drilling operations.
- Sample Collection and Documentation: Collect, log, and describe soil and rock samples from diverse project locations.
- Subsurface Testing and Evaluation: Perform lab testing on collected materials, assess ground conditions, and contribute to engineering and geologic evaluations.
- Technical Reporting: Develop comprehensive reports outlining observations, data interpretations, and project recommendations.
- Geotechnical Insight: Offer geological input to inform design strategies, including site evaluations and hazard analysis.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a related field
- 0-2 years of experience in geotechnical or geological projects
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, a plus
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
- Passion for Geology and Geotechnical Solutions with a strong interest in field and analytical work
What to Expect:
- With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
- Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
- Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
- Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
