Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Entertainment Lighting Service Technician to join our technical services team. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of professional lighting equipment, both in-house and on-site. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stage/entertainment lighting systems and a passion for solving technical challenges in fast-paced environments.
Essential Functions
While not all-inclusive, the following is a list of primary and general duties. In addition to these listed duties, this position shall also perform other tasks as assigned, shall abide by all provisions of the Employee Handbook, and shall participate in all company initiatives and projects.
- Diagnose and repair moving lights, conventional fixtures, dimming systems, and control consoles
- Perform preventative maintenance and firmware updates on lighting equipment
- Support rental and production departments with equipment testing and prep
- Provide on-site service and technical support during events, installations, or emergencies
- Maintain accurate service records and inventory logs
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients regarding equipment status and solutions
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies
Experience and Skills/Abilities
- 2+ years of experience in entertainment lighting service or a related field
- Proficiency with brands such as ETC, MA Lighting, Martin, Chauvet, Elation, and similar
- Solid understanding of DMX, RDM, Art-Net, and other control protocols
- Familiarity with electronics diagnostics, soldering, and mechanical repair
- Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally or regionally as needed
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in warehouse or event environments
Education
- High School Degree or equivalent is required
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The person in this role must be able to both move about the warehouse frequently, walk, bend, stoop, stand and climb, and at times, remain stationary depending on the task or the shift of the day. This person must move about occasionally inside the office to access office machinery and to have routine contact with other facility individuals. The person in this role must effectively interact with employees, obtain information, attend meetings-or as needed to complete the essential job duties. The person in this role must have the ability to move up to 100 lbs occasionally, and up to 50 lbs frequently.
Travel
This position may require infrequent travel, less than 10%. Travel may be mixed -- local and outside the local area and overnight.
Expected Hours of Work
The typical work schedule for this position follows a standard workday, with occasional flexibility for evening and weekend work during high-volume periods. All breaks and lunches will comply with local, state, and federal laws, and overtime, if required, will be compensated in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
