iAutomation, a full-service automation company, developing robotic solutions and offering design, engineering, and integration (DE&I) services, product support, and production services, has an immediate opening for an Engineering Technician in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
The Engineering Technician will work with Engineering, Production, Quality, and management to provide the required support effort for successful project completion and continuously improving processes and design methods.
- Production
- Assist in the creation/printing of Work Order Binders to be used on Production Builds.
- Help production with training on printers, label machines, etc.
- Assist with the assembly of first-time/prototype builds.
- Create and maintain Label files.
- Work with Engineering Department and provide suggestions to further improve products.
- Support Water Spider duties and act as backup when required by ensuring materials are supplied where and when they are needed.
- ECO
- Initiate ECOs.
- Liaison between engineering and production.
- Manage ECOs (pull ECO reports for MSG, push ECOs that are sitting/hot, etc.).
- RMA
- Control RMA communication within production.
- Create and maintain an active RMA schedule and communicate with production planners and managers.
- Work with engineers and production employees to determine the complexity of rework.
- Equipment Setup and Maintenance
- Assist in the installation, calibration, and setup of manufacturing equipment, including wire and crimp machines, robotic systems, and other tools and fixtures, ensuring optimal performance.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery to minimize downtime, adhering to safety standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions by diagnosing issues with mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems, replacing defective parts as needed.
- Document maintenance activities and ensure equipment logs are updated for compliance and traceability.
- Process Documentation and Improvement
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams, to ensure consistency in production.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements using methodologies like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Update documentation following process changes or new equipment introductions to meet quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Participate in root cause analysis for production issues, contributing to corrective action plans to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect production data, including cycle times, defect rates, and downtime logs, using software like Microsoft Excel, Minitab, or ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Analyze performance metrics to identify trends, bottlenecks, or opportunities for improvement, presenting findings to supervisors or engineers.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure production goals are met, such as output rates and quality targets.
- Generate reports summarizing production data, supporting decision-making for process optimization or equipment upgrades.
- Assembly Testing
- Be aware of all test procedures to provide help to technicians.
- Create test procedures for new and existing test fixtures.
- Assist in the serialization process of tested product.
- Quality
- Work with the Quality department to assist in resolving problems that may arise.
- Assist in the First Article Inspection process, inspecting first time builds to ensure quality in our products.
- Support with root cause analysis for Quality issues and research ways to improve the product.
- Conducts testing of products in accordance with supplied procedures when necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires US Citizenship or Permanent /Green Card holder status, an Associate’s of Science or Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering, a technical certification, or equivalent and 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Use a hands-on approach to resolve production and manufacturing issues
- The Engineering Technician will be required to learn and assist in all areas of production.
- Ability to read and follow drawings and schematics
- Good computer skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to lift materials and products up to 50 pounds
