Job Title: Engineering Technical Lead - BIM & Digital Design\nLocation: Falmer (Hybrid Working 2-3days a week in the office)\n\nAbout the Role\nAre you driven by digital innovation in engineering? In this strategic role, you'll shape and lead our digital engineering strategy, champion innovation, and drive the adoption of digital design practices across the business.
You will be the technical authority for BIM, CAD, and Information Management, ensuring our tools and processes are aligned with industry best practices and future-ready.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership\n\nLead the development and implementation of digital design tools and standards.\nAct as the key interface between Engineering and our Digital team.\nManage relationships with software vendors and ensure tool compatibility across the supply chain.\nRepresent us at industry events, conferences, and seminars.\nStakeholder Engagement\n\nFacilitate seamless digital information exchange with internal teams and external partners.\nCollaborate with design consultants, contractors, and delivery partners to ensure alignment on digital standards and tools.\nInnovation & Strategy\n\nDrive continuous improvement in digital design processes, policies, and specifications.\nIdentify opportunities for innovation and lead the adoption of new digital initiatives.\nChallenge existing practices to enhance efficiency and technical delivery.\nFinancial & Commercial Oversight\n\nManage software licensing and procurement in collaboration with IT.\nDevelop business cases for new digital tools and upgrades.\nProvide financial insights to support strategic decisions and stakeholder negotiations.\nTeam Leadership\n\nLead and develop the Information Management team within Engineering.\nBuild internal capability in BIM, CAD, and digital design practices.\nAbout You\nYou bring a strong technical foundation in digital design and a collaborative mindset. You're comfortable navigating complex systems and communicating across technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nKey Skills & Attributes\n\nDeep understanding of BIM and digital design tools in engineering.\nExpertise in digital tool integration and interoperability.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nAnalytical thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.\nConfident decision-maker with a focus on delivery and accountability.\nTeam-oriented, open to feedback, and committed to continuous improvement.\nQualifications\nEssential:\n\nMEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related numerate discipline.\nDesirable:\n\nDegree in Computer Science or a related field.\nChartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.\nRecognised subject matter expertise in digital design within engineering.\nExperience managing BIM processes in the utilities or construction sectors
