3D Modeller – Earthworks\n\nLocation: Aylesbury\n\nEmployment Type: Full-time, Permanent\n\nReports To: Engineering Manager\n\nSalary: Up to £65,000 per annum plus full benefits package\n\nOverview\n\nA leading earthworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking a skilled 3D Modeller to join their Aylesbury-based engineering team.\n\nThe successful candidate will support live earthworks and infrastructure projects through the creation of accurate 3D terrain models, GPS-ready machine control data, and detailed volumetric analysis.\n\nThis position would suit a Surveyor or Engineer with a strong background in earthworks who is looking to transition into a digital modelling role, applying practical field experience to technical design and data management.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCreate and maintain 3D earthworks and terrain models using design drawings, survey data, and CAD inputs.\n\nProduce GPS machine control models (Trimble / Topcon) for use across multiple projects.\n\nGenerate cut/fill analyses, volumetric reports, and cross-sections for both tender and live works.\n\nWork closely with engineers, surveyors, and the Engineering Manager to ensure models reflect site conditions.\n\nManage digital data, model revisions, and QA documentation.\n\nSupport the implementation of digital workflows for design coordination and delivery.\n\nProvide input to visualisations and model-based planning for project teams.\n\nSkills and Experience Required\n\nProficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), or equivalent 3D modelling software.\n\nStrong understanding of earthworks modelling, surface creation, and volumetric analysis.\n\nExperience producing data for machine control systems (Trimble / Topcon).\n\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings and survey data accurately.\n\nExcellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n\nBackground in earthworks, highways, or heavy civils .\n\nDesirable\n\nHNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline.\n\nExperience working with drone survey data or point clouds (Pix4D, Agisoft, Trimble Stratus).\n\nFamiliarity with BIM Level 2 workflows and digital construction processes.\n\nExperience using Navisworks, InfraWorks, or similar visualisation tools.\n\nPackage and Benefits\n\nThis contractor offers one of the most comprehensive packages in the civil engineering sector, including:\n\nBasic salary up to £65,000 (depending on experience)\n\nLodge allowance of £21,630 per annum (for working away from home)\n\nCar allowance of approximately £5,000 per annum\n\nEmployer pension contribution up to 8%\n\nLife assurance (3x to 4x annual salary)\n\nFull training and professional development support\n\nLong-term project pipeline with consistent workload across major infrastructure schemes\n\nCareer progression opportunities within a digitally focused engineering environmen\n\nWhy Apply\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's most advanced earthworks teams, operating at the forefront of digital construction.\n\nYou will work alongside experienced engineers and surveyors using the latest machine control and modelling technology, with clear routes for technical progression and professional growth.\n\nThis position is being managed by SEDR Recruitment, a specialist consultancy supporting the UK’s leading contractors across earthworks, civils, and infrastructure delivery
