Engineering Manager - £650 (Inside IR35) - London - Hybrid

Job Description

Leading eCommerce client now requires an engineering manager to lead three high performing engineering squads in delivering innovative software solutions.


This role will own and define the technical vision and architecture for each squad’s systems, ensuring scalability and alignment with our client’s rapid growth.


Key responsibilities:

  • Encourage engineering best practices and code quality, driving continuous improvement across engineering teams.
  • Build an inclusive culture across the engineering teams, encouraging autonomy, ownership and innovation.
  • Ensure teams understand the alignment between technical initiatives and business needs, promoting a strong delivery mindset across teams.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to create and manage technical roadmaps.
  • Own the technical architecture and infrastructure of your squads.
  • Ensure your teams adopt extreme programming (XP) values, principles and practices.


Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading high performing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Delivery focused with proven experience managing multiple deliverables against tight deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to persuade and educate on the value of engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Excellent people management skills with strong experience coaching, mentoring and building teams.


This is an initial 3-month contract role which provides a daily rate of £650 (Inside IR35).


In terms of working structure, this is hybrid with 2 days per week in our clients London office and the rest remote.
