Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

Product Development:

Act as the product owner throughout the entire product lifecycle, utilizing strong planning and organization skills.

Serve as a key contact for internal/external customers, cross-functional teams, and executives, including reporting project status and risks. Cross-functional teams may include global design, validation, and manufacturing groups.

Provide advanced support to Project Leaders in creating and executing project timelines and budgets.

Assign and review team members' work products to ensure project deliverables, quality, and cost targets are met. Engineering work products may include specifications, DRBFM, DFMEA, FTA, drawings, BOMs, test plans, and manuals.

Support Project Leaders and Engineering staff in managing design change requests through Change Control Board review and approval processes.

New Business Development, Advanced Product Planning, and Sales Expansion:

Lead the establishment of product roadmaps for the North American market, including trend analysis, regulations, and customer communication.

Mentor Project Engineers in benchmarking analysis and product improvement assessments.

Assist Sales Planning teams with technical materials for RFI/RFQ activities.

Lead advanced development activities like proof of concepts and demo vehicles for pre-RFI/RFQ phases.

Coordinate strategic planning and execution with global tech centers, including resource management and capability transfer.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

10+ years in automotive product development, testing, and validation.

Experience managing engineering teams and projects.

Track record of improving engineering organization, roles, responsibilities, and tools.

Familiarity with lifecycle management and collaboration tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint).

Knowledge of automotive bus protocols (CAN/CAN-FD, LIN).

Proficiency with data acquisition and testing tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer, oscilloscopes).

Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.

Knowledge of problem-solving tools and processes (FTA, 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).

Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

Experience with power closure systems or advanced power seating systems.

Basic knowledge of C/C++ programming.

Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow or similar tools.

Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, IATF 16949, and Japanese skills.

Education/Training/Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master's ).

Travel Requirements

Approximately 20%, willing to travel as needed.

Work Environment Requirements

Ability to operate office equipment and work onsite when necessary.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple assignments.

Effective team collaboration and safety compliance.

Attendance/Work Hour Requirements

Acceptable attendance record, willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
