Engineering Manager | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $112,000 - $161,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers, fostering their professional development.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of engineering projects for production lines.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for complex production challenges and equipment selection.
• Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, resources, and technology roadmap.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and R&D departments to facilitate new product introduction and process integration.

Recommended Qualifications

• Strong technical background in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, industrial) within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership and team management experience, including mentoring and developing engineering talent.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, Lean principles, and quality management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from concept through implementation and continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to drive technical solutions and collaborate effectively.

Bonus Qualifications

• Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent advanced Lean manufacturing expertise.
• Demonstrated experience with capital expenditure planning, justification, and implementation of new manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with specific Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software relevant to production.
• Strong background in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, specifically transitioning designs to full-scale production.
• Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotics, automation, or additive manufacturing.
