Engineering Manager – Hardware & Firmware


Job Summary

A rapidly growing global IoT technology company is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Hardware & Firmware Engineering team. This role oversees all product life-cycle engineering activities related to firmware, hardware, manufacturing, and product development, while supporting internal teams across Quality, Sales, and Service.

Key Responsibilities


Firmware & Hardware Development

·       Drive new firmware feature implementation based on the product roadmap, emerging technologies, and customer requirements.

·       Lead firmware release management, ensuring documentation, testing, and smooth deployment in coordination with customer and aftermarket support teams.

·       Support hardware products — including design modifications, component obsolescence management, alternate part qualification, and troubleshooting.

·       Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product transitions from design to production.


Product Support & Quality

·       Lead Tier 2/3 product support, managing diagnostics, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex issues from Service or Customer teams.

·       Oversee CAPA, ECO, NCMR, and MRB processes to ensure systematic issue resolution and continuous improvement.

·       Monitor and maintain factory Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to ensure firmware currency, data integrity, and test accuracy.

·       Support quality teams and contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with engineering-driven quality standards and performance metrics.

·       Track and report field reliability and failure trends, implementing corrective and preventive actions.

·       Oversee RMA Tier 2/3 analysis, contributing to product improvement initiatives.

Leadership & Team Management

·       Lead and mentor a small, agile Hardware & Firmware Engineering team to achieve technical excellence and operational efficiency.

·       Balance technical contribution (particularly in embedded systems) with people management and project oversight.

·       Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

·       Partner cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and Customer teams to align engineering initiatives with strategic objectives.


Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required.


Experience:

·       5–7 years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development, with strong proficiency in C/C++, FreeRTOS, and serial communication protocols.

·       Solid understanding of hardware development and design tools such as Altium Designer.

·       Proven experience transitioning products from prototype to volume manufacturing.

·       Strong leadership or project management experience, with the ability to manage both technical work and people effectively.

·       Experience with wireless communication protocols (BLE, LoRa, Wi-Fi) and ultra-low-power design .

·       Familiarity with compliance standards (FCC, CE, UL) is a plus.
