Job Description
Job\nTitle: Engineering Manager – Electrical\nSystems
Location:\nBarrow-in-Furness / Filton – (Hybrid -2 days a fortnight (Barrow),\n1 day a week(Filton) dependent on business needs, also a\nrequirement to visit other sites in the UK on a regular\nbasis)
Salary: Up to\n£61,967 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What\nyou’ll be doing:
- Leading & managing an engineering team to deliver the\nfunctional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems\nequipment
- Managing the processes and reviews of technical\ndocumentation
- Managing associated technical risks, assumptions and\ndependencies
- Providing advice on electrical power technical aspects\nacross a broad range of engineering\ndisciplines
- Engaging with customers and suppliers to provide\nsolutions to complex problems
- Taking a leading role by guiding the team through the\nsystems definition process
- Providing leadership and mentoring of more junior team\nmembers to ensure the necessary capability and skills\ndevelopment

Your\nskills and experiences:
Essential
\n
- Chartership\nor working (or prepared to work)\ntowards
- Engineering\ndegree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering\ndesign / development
- Experience of\ndesign / development of power systems (concept through to detailed\ndesign)
- Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power\nsystems
- Strong analytical and problem solving\nskills
- Team Leadership experience
Desirable
\n
- Knowledge of\ndefence standards
- Experience of\nMarine Electrical Systems
- Experience of\nworking with engineering life cycle

The\nElectrical Power Systems Definition\nteam:
Working\non the UK’s next- SSN design that incorporates technology\nfrom the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of\nthe Electrical Power team who are responsible for leading a team of\nengineers in defining the system elements required to feed into the\nsubmarine design and build process, including design documentation,\nspatial modelling and build outputs. This role will provide you\nwith an opportunity to travel to various locations throughout the\nUK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites. We offer\nrelocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to\nmeeting eligibility criteria.
