 Overview:
The Engineering Manager at our client is a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for driving engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across our fast-paced precision machining and fabrication environment. This role leads a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on process optimization, new product introduction (NPI), tooling and fixture design, manufacturability improvements, and technical support for Production, Quality, and Program Management.

 

You will oversee daily engineering operations while shaping the long-term technical direction of the company. This includes developing engineering talent, ensuring robust document control, strengthening cross-functional communication, and championing Lean/2 Second Lean initiatives that directly support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, and supporting our employees to become the best versions of themselves.

Leadership & Team Development

·       Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Engineering Team, including Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Interns, and Technicians.

·       Set clear expectations, goals, and developmental paths aligned with company’s strategic priorities.

·       Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

·       Ensure team alignment with 2 Second Lean, encouraging daily waste reduction, problem-solving, and standardized work.

·       Perform other jobs or functions assigned by upper management.

 

Technical & Operational Leadership

·       Oversee engineering support for machining, fabrication, assembly, coating, and cleanroom operations.

·       Drive manufacturing process optimization to reduce cycle times, improve throughput, and increase yield.

·       Lead efforts to improve manufacturability, including developing jigs, fixtures, tooling, and work instructions.

·       Serve as a technical escalation point for complex manufacturing challenges and customer-driven requirements.

·       Ensure engineering processes, drawings, and routings are accurate, current, and compliant with internal and customer standards.

 

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Project Execution

·       Manage NPI engineering activities from initial concept reviews through production launch and stabilization.

·       Collaborate closely with Program Management, Quality, and Production to ensure successful transitions from prototype to scaled production.

·       Partner with customers on technical requirements, design updates, tolerance reviews, and risk mitigation.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Program Management to align engineering priorities and resolve production issues.

·       Ensure timely communication and technical clarity across all levels of the organization.

·       Support cross-department initiatives, internal audits, and customer audits as required.

 

Data, Systems & Documentation

·       Oversee engineering document control, ensuring compliance with QMS, customer requirements, and change management best practices.

·       Champion improvements to M2M, Paperless Parts, CAD/PDM systems, and other digital tools to streamline engineering workflows.

·       Support company-wide efforts to increase visibility using dashboards, KPIs, and data-driven decision-making.

 

Safety, Quality & Compliance

·       Ensure engineering solutions meet safety standards, prevent hazards, and enhance ergonomics.

·       Work closely with Quality to reduce defects, improve first-pass yield, and support root-cause and corrective actions (RCCA).

·       Promote compliance with AS9100, ISO standards, and customer-specific requirements.

 

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree .

·       5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in machining, fabrication, or aerospace/semiconductor manufacturing.

·       2+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams or technical groups.

·       Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks ), ERP systems (M2M a plus), and engineering data management.

·       Strong understanding of GD&T, machining processes, fabrication techniques, and process design.

·       Demonstrated success driving CI/Lean initiatives within an industrial environment.

·       Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

·       Strength — (Light)- Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of Sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

·       Movement- climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling

·       Auditory- talking and hearing.

·       Vision-near acuity, far acuity, depth perception.

·       Environment conditions and physical surroundings-noise, vibration, atmospheric conditions.

 

TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY:

·       Personal Computers, comfortable with technology

·       Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

·       Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) Software-M2M and Shop Floor Manager

·       HR Management Software (SAGE)

·       SQL Reports

·       CAD: Solidworks & HyperMill

 

REQUIRED WORK CLOTHING AND PPE: Attire should not interfere with job performance or safety.
