We are seeking an Engineering Manager with extensive experience in Medium Voltage power distribution equipment. In this role, you will lead a team of Engineers in the design and development of switchgears, switchboards, circuit breakers, and related equipment. Our client is a leading manufacturer of Low Voltage equipment; this role will be responsible for leading their rapidly growing Medium Voltage product line

This position is responsible for overseeing engineering projects and managing the daily engineering activities of the design engineers. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring that the project is executed in accordance with budgets and schedules. You will also ensure the engineering team meets KPIs set by the engineering organization and goals of the company.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day activities of Design Engineering teams
• Maintain and develop company standards for engineering and design procedures.
• Determine and implement department KPI (Key Performance Indicators) that should be measured to
• ensure Engineering team priorities will drive company goals forward.
• Coordinates work/jobs with other departments to ensure Engineering team has clear understanding and schedule of required deadlines.
• Make determinations regarding equipment, staff, and training needs for the Engineering Department.
• Proposes project and program budgets.
• Provide first level management for your direct reports, including goal setting, coaching, performance appraisals, and compensation recommendations.
• Checking teams work for technical accuracy and ensuring the validity of methods used by staff.
• Determine training needs for the Engineering team and implement new processes and procedures
• Trouble shoot design issues with sales and operations teams as well as manage testing of completed products before shipping to customer.
• Develop the standardization programs of the medium voltage product line which include metal enclosed and metal clad switchgears

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or similar
• 8 + years of experience in an engineering position with at least 3+ years of leading diverse teams
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, effective team building expertise, and ability to interact and function cooperatively with multiple stakeholders, multi-functional teams and customers
• Strong verbal and written communication to clearly communicate with internal and external customers
• Demonstrable experience in a successful leadership role within an engineering environment
• High-level of competency in AutoCAD
• Well-versed in MS Office suite applications
• Manage multiple jobs and competing requirements
• Ability to use reasoning and logic to develop creative and practical solutions and apply past proven solutions to solve new problems.
• Read technical drawings, project specifications, and clearly communicate technical information
• Understanding of medium voltage standards for metal clad and metal enclosed switchgears.
• Familiarity with industry standards and medium voltage control components use and implementation.
